Steps to Add New User

Adding a user information and company information

A ‘User’ is a person who is using the ResearchWise. One has to follow the subsequent steps to add new user.

          Step1:Click on the ‘User profiles’ node from the ‘Security section’ from left hand side tree hierarchy. Click on the ‘New’ button to add new user.


    Step2:    From the ‘User group policy’ drop down list, select the desired group policy for the user. 




          Step3: Fill in the user information for the new user in the relevant textboxes as shown below:

Step4: Enter the ‘User login name’, ‘User password’, ‘and reconfirm the password. (Note: Minimum number of characters that can be entered for Password is 8, which can be changed through the ‘Group policy’ section).


  1. Select a hint question from the drop down list (Note: User can create his/her own hint question by selecting the ‘<My Own Question>’ option from the drop down list).


  1. Enter the ‘Hint answer’ in the textbox below.


  1. Enter the ‘First name, ‘Middle name’ & ‘Last name’ of the user in the respective textboxes.


  1. From the drop down list of available ‘User type’, select the type to which the user belongs.


  1. Enter the ‘Coverage notes’ in the corresponding textbox as shown above.


*Select the country of residence from corresponding drop down list as shown in the figure below.


  1. From the drop down list of available forecast sources, select the ‘Default Forecast Source’ for the user.


  1. Specify the default language for the new user from the drop down list. The user will be receiving emails in the language selected in this section from the system.


  1. The ‘External user’ checkbox remains checked by default in the system. Kindly uncheck the external user box accordingly (in case internal user needs to be checked).


  1. Search for company name to which the new user belongs. 


  1. Map Company information for the user.


  1. Enter the first few characters of the company name in the search box as shown below, and then click on the ‘Search’ button to search for the company based on search criteria.


  1. All companies matching the search criterion are populated in the drop down list below the search box. Select the desired company from the resultant drop down list.


  1. The details of the company gets displayed in the fields as shown below:


*Fill in the user’s Company information, as shown in the figure above. These fields cannot be left blank if a company is selected above.


  1. Click on the ‘Add’ button to add the new user in the system.




Reset and Unlock users’ profile password


An Administrator can Reset the Users’ account password and Manage a user password profile via ADBMS.

  1. To do so, Login to ADBMS using the ResearchWise credentials and navigate to User Profile Page.
  2. Search & select the User and click on the Administer User Option.
  3. In the Manage Profile Password window, enter in the new Password and click on Reset Password.

*Click on Show Password option to review the typed password.

**Ensure the option ‘This profile is locked’ is unchecked. If enabled, uncheck it and click on Update User Detail.


Managing user’s product version mapping.


  1. Click on the ‘Security’ node from the ‘Security section’ from left hand side tree hierarchy. Click on the ‘User Product Version mapping’ button to map new user with product’s latest version.



Select the product as AnalecResearchWiseERL and from the version list select the latest available version(5.0.3(3)), then select the checkbox against newly created user and Save. 



  1. Similar to above step, select ResearchwiseMacroDeployment product and map the latest ResearchWise macro version to new user. 






Adding user contact information


Enter the user contact information using ‘View contact Information’ button in the User profiles as shown below. Add the required contact type and contact value and click on Insert.

Add Profile Photo

An Administrator can Add/Update a User Photo via ADBMS so that it can be shown in the Word report, Research Email as well as in Research Author.

  1. To do so, Login to ADBMS using the ResearchWise credentials and navigate to User Profile Page.

  2.   Search & select the User and click on ‘Manage User Image’ as shown in the below screenshot.

Click on ‘Add’ to upload the photo, browse the Image file and click on ‘Update’. 

Instrument Access

Analyst coverage

Analyst coverage can be provided using the following three options:-

  1. All stocks- This option is used to provide access to all covered stocks available in the system.
  2. Selected stocks – This option is used to provide access to selected number of stocks only.
  1. All Stock Excluding- This option is used to provide access to all the stocks except the one which are selected.

Step1: Click on ‘Analyst Coverage’ from Miscellaneous Section to set the analyst access on the stock.

Step2: Click on ‘Search’ to search the ‘user name’ for which the coverage needs to be applied.

Step3: Select the Forecast source and access mode as ‘All Stocks/Selected stocks/All stock Excluding’ as per the requirement.

Step4: Select the ‘Access Type’ from the drop down menu and select the required ‘Access type’ as mentioned below:- 

  1. Update – If selected, user will be able to update the information for the instrument(s).
  2. View – If selected, user will be able to view the information for the instrument.

Step5: Select the ‘Update Type’ from the drop down menu and select the required ‘Update Type’ as mentioned below:- 

Anytime – If selected, user can update the instrument information anytime.

Forecast security – If selected, user can update the instrument information as per the forecast security is defined.

Custom – If selected, user can update no. of times defined by user in No of Updates field and that to specific to a date defined in Till date field.

Step6: No. of updates’ will be a Text Field which will only be enabled when Custom filed is selected else disabled. If enabled, user can enter the number which will define how many a user can update on this instrument.

Step7: Till Date’ will be Date field which will only be enabled when Custom filed is selected else disabled. If enabled date can be entered this will allow user to make any updates till that specified date.

Step8: Once all the above mentioned parameters are selected, click on ‘Apply’ to provide the coverage access.

For selected Stocks

  1. Select the access mode as ‘Selected Stocks’ and select the access type accordingly.
  1. Click on ‘Add’ button mentioned at the bottom of the screen. A new window will appear to select the stocks for which coverage access needs to be provided to the user.

** As shown in the below screen, stocks can be selected on the basis of ‘Sectors’, ‘Country’, ‘Indices’ or ‘Individual stock’ can be search. Once stock selection is made, permission needs to be granted for ‘Can user update’ and ‘Update type’ as per requirement and click on ‘Apply’.

  1. Once clicked on ‘Apply’, all the selected stocks will be displayed in the grid. Click on ‘Apply’ to provide the coverage access of ‘Selected Stocks’.

For All Stocks Excluding


  1. Under the drop down option of ‘Access Mode’, select ‘All Stocks excluding’ from drop down option.
  2. Select instrument permissions like ‘Access type’, ‘Update type’, ‘No. of updates’ & ‘Till date’ for the stocks for which coverage access needs to be provided.
  3. To remove the stocks for which no coverage access has to be provided, click on ‘Add’ button mentioned at the bottom of the screen. A new window will appear to select the stocks for which no coverage access needs to be provided to the user out of all stocks available in the ResearchWise database.

Copy Instrument Coverage


Step1: Click on the button ‘Copy from other user’.

Step2: Enter the name for the user in the ‘User name’ box under ‘Source user information’ from whom we need to copy the coverage access. For example: - Analec administrator.

Step3: Enter the name for the user in the ‘User name’ box under ‘Destination user information’ for whom we need to copy the coverage access. For example: - Test Account.

Step4: Add the ‘Destination user’ name under ‘List of users’ box. Select the Forecast source as required and click on ‘Apply’.

                                                                                                                               

Manage custom attributes 


Click on ‘Manage custom attributes’ in User setup under ‘Security section’. Select the Attribute name ‘Alternate name’ from the drop down and search for the user. Enter the Attribute value (Alternate Name of the user) and click on Update button to save the changes.



Steps to map report type access to user


  1. Login to ResearchWise SysAdmin to assign the report type to the new user. 
  2. Go to ‘User report types’ under ‘Report settings’ and click on ‘View by user’ tab. Search for the user and select the report type to map and click on ‘Assign report type to user’.


  1. Alternatively, a user can also select the option for ‘Copy complete set of report types already mapped to an existing use’ to map all the report types mapped to any other user selected.


Assign a role to the user


  1. Click on ‘User roles’ under ‘Report settings’ in Analec ResearchFlowSysAdmin to assign a role to the user. 
  2. Search for a user from the drop down and select from the available roles.

Note: - Multiple roles can be assigned to one user.
